[consald] Book available

Mar
14

Folks,

I just found a copy of this book that was deaccessioned some time ago but
not disposed of. It is from 1950 and not widely held, so I wanted to offer
it to any of you before sending it off to the great library in the sky. If
you want it, reply with your name and address and I'll ship it to the first
respondent. If I don't hear anything in a week, its gone.

Best,
David

[consald] PDF collections and access; coordinated collecting?

Mar
14

Dear CONSALD & SACAP-Coop,

Gary mentioned that Columbia is now planning to implement selective PDF archiving from the web. It is very encouraging to see that more research libraries are joining this trend of archiving academically useful documents and reports from the web and making them discoverable and accessible as library collections. I have been concerned about how much basically ephemeral content of this type is out there on the web for South Asian studies that has not been collected by libraries.

[consald] NYC International & Area Studies Collections Forum - summary

Mar
09

Dear CONSALD and SACAP-Coop,

At long last, here's the summary I promised of the NYC International & Area Studies Collections Forum, held at New York Public Library on February 7th. The Forum stressed inter- and intra-institutional collaboration and creative digital projects to enhance discovery and access of research materials from around the world. (A few examples are given in the summary). I look forward to our continued SACAP-Coop workshops and further explorations with you on further collaborative projects.

Best wishes,
Aruna
