Hi Edward,

If one of your universities is an AIIS member, you can call upon them
for

help. They are pretty good at navigating the bureaucracies.

Good luck,

David

[Consald-l] P.A.P. permit?

Sep
23

Has anybody had any experience applying for a P.A.P. (Protected
Area Permit)? I've just learned that the Tibetan monastery in Himachal
Pradesh whose manuscripts I was planning to digitize has recently been
declared to be located in a region which requires all foreign nationals to
have a P.A.P.

The Government of India materials which I've seen all say that it requires
at least 3 (three) months for P.A.P. applications be be processed. Is there
any way to expedite this process? I had been planning to leave on November
1.

[Consald-l] Serial volumes available

Sep
12

Folks,

We've been doing some cleanup work and have found some volumes lying around
that belong to serial titles that were withdrawn long ago. They are up for
grabs if you need to fill in gaps (or just want them).

- Times of India Annual for 1949 and 1951. Both are bound, in good
condition, and full of artwork.

- The People (Dacca). It is a single bound volume 1; no.1-88 (August
14-November 13, 1970).

Cheers,
David
