[consald] South Asia Archive on Meeting Agenda in Philly?

Feb
17

Hello CONSALDians,

I know the South Asia archive is not exactly new news at this point, but I was wondering if there would be interest in having one of their representatives come to our CONSALD meeting in Philadelphia. I had met with one of their reps, Laura Horton, at the Charleston Conference and mentioned that it might be worth their while to speak with us as a group and she recently sent me an email saying:

[consald] Doniger-Penguin issue

Feb
14

Colleagues,
It occurred to me last night that we should be trying to capture the Doniger-Penguin documents/websites/missives for later study-especially since this seems to be a recurring phenomenon and will most likely be a topic of study at some point. Does anyone have any particular strategies or infrastructure to capture/preserve the non-newspaper web-content?
Mary

Re: [consald] Doniger-Penguin issue: SAJA

hi Mary,

There has been lots of activity going in SAJA (South
Asian Jounalists Association) listserv as well. David (Magier) is a member
of the list. He could be able to forward CONSALD some of those, I assume.

best,
Aruna

[consald] Urdu book needed

Feb
07

Dear CONSALDers,

I’ve been asked to try to locate this by a professor friend:

Z̤iyāʼ al-Dīn Baranī, active 1284-1356. Tārīk̲h̲-i Fīroz Shāhī / mutarajjim Sayyid Muʻīnu-l-Ḥaqq. Lāhaur : Markazī Urdū Bord, [1969]

He needs a PDF of just the introduction.

It seems the only copy in OCLC is at McGill. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Phong

[consald] Fwd: Webinar - Humanities & GIS: Mapping Books with Mitch Fraas (Penn)

Feb

Colleagues,

Digital Humanities is not everyone's cup of tea, but it seems to be all the rage these days. Here's a link to the interesting paper (blog post) on circulation of ideas in late 18th century India by Mitch Fraas (who's giving the Digital Humanities webinar mentioned below):
