All:

I am pleased to announce the results of the CONSALD Executive Board election. In a VERY competitive election, the two top candidates you elected to serve as members-at-large are:

* Mara Thacker

They will begin their three-year terms immediately following the Annual Meeting next week. Please join me in congratulating our colleagues, and my sincere thanks to everyone who volunteered to serve.

[consald] Book available

Mar
14

Folks,

I just found a copy of this book that was deaccessioned some time ago but
not disposed of. It is from 1950 and not widely held, so I wanted to offer
it to any of you before sending it off to the great library in the sky. If
you want it, reply with your name and address and I'll ship it to the first
respondent. If I don't hear anything in a week, its gone.

Best,
David

[consald] CONSALD Membership

Feb
28

According to the By-Laws, membership in CONSALD should be verified annually to ensure smooth committee cooperation (such as elections or other matters requiring voting such as By-Law amendments, etc.).

Please take a look at the directory of members at http://consald.org/librarian_directory and inform Philip McEldowney (pm9k@virginia.edu) of any changes to your contact information or membership status

[consald] JSTOR rep at CONSALD Meeting

Feb
28

hi James,

On behalf of the Journals Subcommittee of CONSALD, I have restarted
conversations with Jason, rep of JSTOR on SA journal coverage. I am going
to share that info with you all shortly. There is also a possibility of him
coming to CONSALD meeting to discuss with us South Asia journal coverage
related matters in JSTOR. Please let me know if you could find a time slot
(30 minutes or so) for this in CONSALD agenda, if he is available.

best wishes,
Aruna

Re: [consald] Doniger-Penguin issue: SAJA

Feb

hi Mary,

There has been lots of activity going in SAJA (South
Asian Jounalists Association) listserv as well. David (Magier) is a member
of the list. He could be able to forward CONSALD some of those, I assume.

best,
Aruna

Feb

Colleagues,

Digital Humanities is not everyone's cup of tea, but it seems to be all the rage these days. Here's a link to the interesting paper (blog post) on circulation of ideas in late 18th century India by Mitch Fraas (who's giving the Digital Humanities webinar mentioned below):
